SOUND DESIGN
Sound design is the craft of recording and creating tracks as per the requirement of the project. It includes determining, obtaining or creating audible components, utilising sound creation software and devices. We at south side studios, possess an extensive library of top-notch sound effects, applicable for every type of medium. Sound design enhances the narrative by setting the right tone, mood and environment for it.
LOCATION SOUND
Location sound recording is the practice of recording sounds & dialogues on-set using various audio equipment. The process helps in capturing the artistic performance of various characters without the loss of emotions compared to the dubbing of a scene (ADR). We use high end microphones and recorders to record the dialogues and ambience and include a timecode to process and sync the audio in the post-production stage.
SOUND EFFECTS EDITING
Sound effects editing involves layering sound effects with respect to the visuals. The process requires creating and modulating recorded sound effects and other audio elements to enhance the story telling process. It evens out the mismatch between the audio-visual, to create a smooth flow along with removing or adding unwanted/needed elements. In short, the process makes the project whole.
DIALOGUE EDITING
Dialogue editing is the practice of adapting and cleaning dialogue tracks, which are used in the post-production stage. We go through the timeline (shared OMF/AAF) and select the best audio takes recorded on-location or dubbed during ADR sessions and process those dialogues by removing unwanted noises.
FINAL MIXING
Final mixing is the process of combining all the elements of audio, including dialogue, sound effects, Foley, ambiance and music to create the finished sound output of a project, with perfect audio equilibrium. The ultimate result is to create the final soundscape of a project, which is in sync with the vision of the director. The final soundscape is offered in mono, stereo or surrounds mixes, which is then rendered/mastered, based on the project requirement. We currently offer mixes in 7.1 surround sound & stereo.
ADR RECORDING (COMING SOON)
Soon we will be providing ADR Recording service (Automated Dialogue Replacement) where the audio recorded on set has too much noise or is unusable. This is the process of replacing lines of dialogue with audio recorded at the studio (in sync with visuals) by the actor. Then we tweak and mix the recorded dialogue to make it sound like the set audio.
